Chinese astronauts arrive at the space station

Three astronauts have entered the China-developed space station as they begin a three-month mission there, China Television Network International reported Saturday.

The Chinese Shenzhou-12 rocket carrying the three astronauts took off last Thursday.

State media said the astronauts will spend their time in the Tianhe orbiter to help develop the project's technology and systems, Bloomberg News reported on Saturday.

At the start of their mission, the three astronauts unloaded supplies and set up wireless Internet connections and other equipment.

The space station is part of China's efforts to catch up with the United States as a space power.
