All you need to know about the Palestinian flag

The flag of Palestine is the symbol of the Palestinian state and the umbrella of the Palestinian people, and it is a banner that Palestinians have used since the first half of the twentieth century to express their national ambition.

This flag consists of three identical horizontal stripes (from top to bottom, black, white and green) above which is a red isosceles triangle whose base is at the beginning of the flag (the base extends vertically) and the vertex of the triangle is located on one third of the length of the flag horizontally.

Sharif Hussein designed the current flag as the flag of the Arab Revolt of 1916.

The Palestinians used the flag in reference to the Palestinian national movement in 1917.

In 1947, the Arab Ba'ath Party interpreted the flag as a symbol of freedom and Arab unity.

The Palestinians re-adopted the flag at the Palestinian Conference in Gaza in 1948.

The flag was recognized by the Arab League as the flag of the Palestinian people.

In the first meeting on May 28, 1964, the Palestinian National Council drew up its national charter, and Article 27 of it stipulated that Palestine should have a flag and anthem, and its colors were defined in order as follows: green, white, then black with a red triangle.

On (1-12-1964 AD), the Executive Committee of the Liberation Organization established a special system for the flag that defines its standards and dimensions, and the two colors black and green replaced each other, and with the start of the Palestinian revolution on 1/1 1965 AD, it took the flag as its emblem.

On November 15, 1988, the Palestine Liberation Organization adopted the flag as the flag of the Palestinian state.

Because of the political symbolism of science, there was great eagerness and determination from the highest levels, and a presidential decree was issued bearing the number (29) of 2005 regarding determining the dimensions of the flag on (3-12-2005 AD) and on (22-12-2005 AD) the Flag Law was issued Palestinian No. 22 of 2005 AD specifies the colors and standards of the flag, how to respect it, where to raise it, and the consequences for those who violate the provisions of the law.

The national flag is raised on government buildings, airports, military bases, and installations inside and outside Palestine. The flag may be raised at night as well as during the day.
